A national seminar on “Viksit Bharat@2047: Transforming Rural India through Sustainable Growth” sponsored by NABARD concluded at Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema on March 12. The two-day seminar was organized by Department of Commerce.
Adviser (Higher Education), Government of Assam, Prof. Debabrata Das attended the seminar as guest of honour, emphasizing the role of research-driven policies in rural economic growth. General manager, NABARD, Pauliankap Bulte, highlighted NABARD’s commitment to empowering rural communities through financial literacy and infrastructure.
Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Prof. Jagadish K. Patnaik, delivered the chief guest address, praising the initiative and urging academia to shape rural development policies. He stressed the importance of technology and digital infrastructure in bridging the rural-urban divide.
The seminar concluded with a valedictory session, bringing together key takeaways from the discussions held over the two days. Prof. Gautam Patikar opened the session with a welcome address while Prof. Jano S. Liegise, Dean, School of Humanities & Education, Nagaland University, in his address, highlighted the role of education and skill development in fostering rural entrepreneurship.
Er. H Alongse Sangtam, Joint Director, Directorate of Employment, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, graced the session as chief guest and spoke about government initiatives and their role in transforming rural economies. Prof. Joy Das, seminar convenor, presented the key intakes from the seminar, summarizing the research findings, discussions, and policy recommendations. The seminar ended with the distribution of certificates and a vote of thanks by Dr. Jasojit Debnath, Joint Convenor, Department of Commerce, NU. Prof. Joy Das.
Earlier on day one, delivering keynote address Prof. A.P. Singh from Gauhati University, discussed strategic frameworks for sustainable rural development aligned with India’s 2047 vision.
