DMC directs street vendors to obtain vending permit

Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has directed all street vendors operating without a valid permit to apply for obtaining necessary vending permit.

In an order, DMC chief executive officer (CEO) Thungchanbemo Tungoe stated that a number of street vendors were operating at New Market and Hazi Park without the valid permits, leading to unregulated vending activities, encroachments, and inconvenience to the general public.

DMC reminded that as per the Nagaland Municipal. Act, 2023, all street vendors were required to obtain a valid permit from DMC to conduct vending activities in designated areas.

Therefore, all street vendors operating without a valid permit have been directed to report to the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) office to apply for obtaining the necessary vending permit within seven days from the date of this order.

DMC cautioned that vendors who fail to obtain the permit within the stipulated period would be immediately removed from the vending locations.
