Sumi Hoho president case: HC restores trial court order

Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench has restored the order dated November 18, 2024 passed by the Court of the Civil Judge Senior Division, Dimapur restraining Vihuto Assumi from continuing as the president of Sumi Hoho (SH) till the final disposal of the Civil Suit No. 23/2024.


A bench of Justice Mridul Kumar Kalita was hearing a civil revision petition filed by seven petitioners challenging the order and judgment dated January 14, 2025 passed by the Court of the Principal District Judge, Dimapur.


In his judgement and order, Justice Mridul Kumar Kalita, also set aside the impugned order dated December 20, 2024 and Judgment passed by the District Judge, Dimapur.
The Bench held that the Court of the District Judge was unjustified in interfering with the exercise of discretion by the Trial Court.


While disposing of the civil revision petition, the Bench ordered that the records of the Trial Court be sent back to the Trial Court as well as First Appellate Court be sent back along with a copy of its order.
