A village walk for school children was conducted at Zhavame village in Phek district, on March 31, under the initiative of the Zhavame Tourism Board. The event, aimed at fostering awareness about cultural heritage among the younger generation, featured P. Paul Dukru, a jury board member of the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) and a former Village Council Chairman, as the resource person.
The programme included a guided walk to historical sites, storytelling sessions, and quiz competitions, engaging a total of 69 school children. According to the organisers, the primary objective was to educate the children about their ancestral roots and instill a deeper understanding of their cultural ethics.
Dukru, addressing the participants, underscored the importance of preserving traditional knowledge and encouraged the children to take pride in their rich cultural heritage.
The event concluded with an interactive session, where the children demonstrated keen interest in the stories and historical insights shared during the walk.
