ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Peren organized a “Farmer Scientist Interaction cum Input Distribution under NEH Programme” on March 25 at KVK Jalukie.
The farm inputs distribution was sponsored by ICAR-National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms (NBAIM), Mau, Uttar Pradesh under NEH component. The event brought together farmers and FPOs from all regions of Peren district to discuss innovative agricultural practices.
Dean, CoVSc, CAU, Jalukie Dr. I. Shakuntala, who graced the function as special guest, encouraged the gathering to take advantage of different schemes in effective manner for enhancing the production and productivity of agriculture, horticulture, fishery, poultry and animal husbandry.
Guest of honour, EAC Peren district HQ, Mhashumi Ezung acknowledged the initiative taken by ICAR-NBAIM institute and KVK Peren in promoting farmers for sustainable farming.
Principal Scientist & Head, KVK Peren, Dr. K. L. Meena, delivered welcome address and spoke about the benefits of such scheme for the socio-economic upliftment of the Peren district famers.
Dr. Homeswar Kalita, HoRC, ICAR, RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema, in his presidential address spoke about the benefits of TSP and NEH schemes for the North East farmers.
Siddharth Arora, Personal Assistant to Director, ICAR-NBAIM, Mau, UP as guest of honour witnessed the programme and encouraged the farmers for better utilization of inputs for farm activities.
At the farmer scientist interaction, KVK Peren Subject Matter Specialists Dr. L. Babita Devi, Z. James Kikon, Dr. Patu K. Zeliang, Dr. Prashant Kalal addressed the challenges and issues faced by the farmers.
Farm inputs such as irrigation pipes, polythene sheet, spade, khurpi, sickle and torch light were distributed to the 150 farmers of Peren district.
