ANCSU raises issues affecting govt polytechnic institutes

All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has sought the immediate intervention of the advisor technical education to addresses various issues affecting the government polytechnics in the state.


In a representation addressed to the advisor technical education, ANCSU president Tenyesinlo Bukh and general secretary Kivinoka A Sema informed that during the ANCSU tour many polytechnic institutes were facing massive learning obstacles due to the shortfall of lectures, demonstrator/ instructor in various departments.


ANCSU also stated some demonstrators in the institutions were not performing their duties efficiently, jeopardizing the career of the students for quality technical education.


ANCSU has, therefore, urged the department to promptly asses on those matters and immediately appoint lectures, demonstrator/ instructor in the institutions particularly Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu, Government Polytechnic Kohima, Government Polytechnic Tsunazho and other polytechnic institutions.


Urgent supply of electronic, laboratory equipment and furniture: Stating that technical students required adequate tools for proper skills training, ANCSU has, however, said that lack of equipment in many polytechnic institutes was not only depriving the students of educational opportunities but also limited their potential and future prospects.


The union has sought sufficient lab and technical equipment in the polytechnic institutes on priority. Further, it said some institutes were facing water crisis and demanded immediate intervention of the department.


Bus services and recruitment of drivers: ANCSU said many students were struggling because of insufficient bus services in the institutions. It said technical department being a human resource department needed to provide affordable, accessible, and sustainable transportation for students and staff.

In this regard, the union appealed to the department to provide more bus at Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu and other polytechnic institutions. ANCSU also urged the department to appoint bus drivers at government polytechnic Tsunazho and other institutes.


Construction of proper girls and boys toilets:
ACNSU has expressed concern over the condition of toilets during its visit to Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu and other Polytechnic Institutes.


The union has strongly urged the department to immediately construct proper girls and boys toilet in both institutions. In the light of the above, the union requested the urgent and timely intervention of the advisor to take necessary action at the earliest.
