The Zukhumki Federation, in collaboration with the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission Wokha, District Administration, DHEW, and Social Welfare under Mission Shakti (BBBP), launched the Adult Literacy Campaign in Chukitong Block under Wokha district on April 29, 2025, at Tsungiki Community Hall. The campaign aims to promote literacy among adults, empowering communities through education and awareness.
According to DIPR report, District Coordinator of DHEW, Dr. Wonjano E. Enny, provided an overview of Mission Shakti, elaborating on its objectives and various government schemes available to citizens. She highlighted safety guidelines tailored specifically for women, emphasizing the importance of providing marginalized groups access to educational opportunities and resources.
Senior SDEO Raphael Zubonthung delivered an address underscoring the significance and benefits of the Adult Literacy Campaign. He detailed how literacy can enhance socio-economic conditions and individual empowerment, encouraging active participation in the initiative.
Officials from the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission, Village Development Board (VDB) of Tsungiki, and Block Project Manager Janthungbemo Ezung also shared their insights. They expressed their commitment to supporting the campaign and ensuring its successful implementation.
President of Englan Range Women Livelihood, Thrift and Credit Cooperative Limited, Zuchobeni, shared the success story of the adult literacy campaign in Englan Range, Wokha. She highlighted its positive impact on communities through skill development and financial inclusion.
Representatives from the VDB and GBs of Tsungiki village pledged their support for the campaign and encouraged villagers to actively participate, recognizing literacy as a vital driver of social and economic advancement.
The event opened with a welcome address by CRP-EP Lochumlo, and concluded with a vote of thanks by treasurer of Tsungiki VLO, Lochumlo Kikon, who expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their contributions and commitment.
General secretary of the Zukhumki Federation, Lucy Kikon, chaired the event, offering insights into the campaign’s vision and the collaborative efforts necessary to make adult literacy accessible to all.
