An Indian Air Force (IAF) Apache helicopter made an emergency landing on Friday in Punjab’s Pathankot district due to a suspected technical issue. The aircraft was on a routine training sortie when the incident occurred, but both the pilot and co-pilot escaped unhurt, and no civilian damage was reported.
Military personnel promptly secured the helicopter, and a technical team is inspecting the aircraft to determine the cause of the landing. No official statement has been released yet, with officials citing operational security protocols.
This marks the second such Apache-related incident in recent days. On June 6, another Apache made a precautionary landing in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur due to technical concerns, also without injuries.
Emergency landings of military aircraft are standard procedure when flight anomalies arise. The AH-64E Apache helicopters, formally inducted into the IAF in 2019, have been deployed in forward areas, particularly along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh. They play a crucial role in India’s high-altitude defense operations.
