Flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall disrupted vehicular movement at several locations along the Chümoukedima–Kohima and Chümoukedima–Jalukie roads on Monday, causing temporary roadblocks and affecting normal traffic flow.
According to traffic officials, the Molvom Bridge located near Molvom village along the Jalukie road was partially submerged due to a sudden rise in water levels. While light vehicles were allowed to pass with caution, heavy vehicles and trucks were temporarily barred from using the bridge as a safety precaution.
In another incident, traffic came to a standstill at Pherima village after flash floods, attributed to clogged drainage, led to water overflowing onto the main road. The situation caused a temporary disruption in movement for both local residents and commuters.
However, officials said that after receiving the alert, necessary steps were taken to clear the clogged area. The water receded shortly thereafter, allowing for the restoration of normal traffic flow.
