Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held its monthly meeting on June 16 at the DPDB Hall, Kohima, under the chairmanship of Kevipodi Sophie MLA.
According to a DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, initiated the meeting with a review of the previous minutes. Marking the recent World Day Against Child Labour, Buchem stressed strict enforcement of child labour laws. He reminded that children below 14 must not be employed, and those between 14 to 18 should not be engaged in hazardous work.
A proposal from the Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO), presented by its president Kepelhoutuo Chüsi, called for relocating the administrative centre from Sechü-Zubza to Peducha. The Board decided to take a final decision after receiving a detailed report from the SDO, Sechü-Zubza.
The Board also resolved to organise a mass social work on June 21 across Kohima town. Departments will be grouped into seven teams and assigned specific road stretches. Wards and colonies will also take part, with Kohima Municipal Council chairman overseeing the drive.
CDPO Kohima Urban, Reyivolu, gave a PowerPoint presentation highlighting Social Welfare Department’s work under Mission Poshan 2.0 and Mission Shakti. These included updates on Anganwadi services, nutrition, pre-school education, Sakhi One-Stop Centres, and schemes such as IGNOAPS, IGNWPS, IGNDPS, and NFBS.
Legal officer Mego briefed the Board on the work of the District Child Protection Unit, including the 1098 helpline, Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board, and Special Juvenile Police Unit.
Presentations from Hopper’s Society, Ranger’s Club, and E-Sports Association of Nagaland regarding their registrations were approved and recommended for further action.
The meeting concluded with an assignment to the District Agriculture Officer to make a presentation in the next DPDB meeting.
