WTSU, WTWWS, WCH flay alleged molestation

DIMAPUR, JUN 17 (NPN)

Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH), Western Thetsümi Welfare Union (WTSU) and Western Thetsümi Women Welfare Society (WTWWS) have strongly condemned the alleged molestation of one of their members in a moving autorickshaw on June 15, 2025.
In a joint press release, WTWU chairman Zülhounyi Venuh and WTWWS chairperson Akhrole Venuh informed that the incident occurred following the victim, who arrived at Dimapur Airport from Pune at around 1pm, stopped a passenger autorickshaw at 4th Mile, Diphupar. The two bodies said the victim asked the driver and the passenger in the autorickshaw to drop her at a taxi stand as she was leaving for Kohima.
However, they said the driver and the passenger instead of taking her to Dimapur proceeded towards Niuland. WTSU and WTWWS said since she was unfamiliar with roads that they were taking, she asked the auto driver to stop but the driver continued.
Meanwhile, the passenger started to molest her and sexually abuse her in the moving auto. WTSU and WTWWS identified the accused as one minor boy presently residing at Vihokhu village.
After crossing Showuba, they said she pleaded the driver to stop the auto but the driver paid no heed. Therefore, in order to save herself, they said she jumped out of the moving auto which resulted her from suffering serious injuries.
They said some passers-by in the area noticed her and took her to CIHSR for medical treatment.
Subsequently, WTSU and WTWWS said both the passenger and the auto driver were caught by the passers-by and handed over to Showuba police outpost.
In this regard, they said an FIR was lodged with the Women Police Station Dimapur.
WTWWS and WTWU expressed deep concern over the incident and urged responsible authorities to intervene and take necessary legal action against the perpetrators. They also urged the authorities to treat the matter with urgency and sensitivity.
