Western Chakhesang organisations including Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH), Western Chakhesang Mother’s Association (WCMA), Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation (WCYO) and Western Chakhesang Students’ Union (WCSU) have appealed to the district administration to take strict action against the accused involved in the alleged molestation and assault of a Chakhesang woman in a moving auto-rickshaw on June 15, 2025.
In a representation addressed to deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur WCH president Dr. Chisoi Khusoh, general secretary Keve Nuh, WCMA president Neipeü Kronu, WCYO president Wekupe Therie, WCSU vice president Chose Puro demanded that the accused must be subjected to immediate and stringent legal action as per the relevant provisions of the law.
The signatories reminded that WCH had submitted a joint representation dated February 25, 2025 to the commissioner of police Dimapur and DC office concerning the molestation of a Chakhesang female nursing student at District Hospital Dimapur. They said that prompt stringent exemplary action at that time could have served as a strong deterrent to such kind of recurrence of violence against women.
In light of the above, the Western Chakhesang organisations demanded expeditious investigation into the matter and stringent prosecution of the accused under the fullest extent of the law.
They also demand enhanced security measures, including intensified patrolling, to deter such heinous crimes in the future.
