ATMA conducts training and demonstrations for farmers

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) carried out various training and demonstration programmes across Tening, Chessore, and Shamator blocks to boost farming practices and farmer capacity building.
In Tening Block, ATMA organised a joint visit to a Mithun farm at Tening village on June 19. The visit aimed to raise awareness on livestock rearing, highlighting the cultural and economic significance of Mithun in the region. On June 20, a practical demonstration on fruit crop propagation was held at Azailong village, where ATM Matsungtoshi N Pongener demonstrated grafting, budding, and air layering techniques to help improve orchard management and fruit production.
In Chessore Block, Shamator district, a training programme was held in June focusing on neem oil application, fish pond management, soil sampling, and nursery bed preparation. Resource persons included AFA Tomong and ATM Dekhingpi. A “Kisan Goshti” was conducted at Shiponger village followed by capacity building sessions for FIGs and FSGs, led by resource person Tsukhumla. Two FIGs received seed money, a new FSG was formed at Losolo village, and a Farm School on Horticulture was inaugurated at Chessore village.
Meanwhile, ATMA Shamator inaugurated a fishery farm school at Shamator village with fishery inspector, Sajamo M Humtsoe, as resource person. He stressed the importance of fish farming for food security, income generation, and environmental balance.
Demonstration activities were also held at Lasikiur village in collaboration with the department of Soil and Water Conservation, with SCA Luntsu as resource person. An FSG was formed and seeds were distributed. Seed money was also disbursed at Rurur A and B villages.
ATMA Tseminyu Block also inaugurated a Farm school on “mix-fruits orchard” at new-Sendendyu village on June 20.
