A Quality Stock Bee Multiplication Centre was inaugurated on June 24 at Lozaphuhü village under Phek district by Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) chairman, Obed Quinker.
Speaking at the event, Quinker highlighted the state government’s vision to promote beekeeping as a key economic activity, guided by the leadership of chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio. He said the new centre—one of nine in the state and the only one in Phek district—will help boost honey production and livelihood opportunities.
He urged villagers to make proper use of the facility and protect the natural environment which supports beekeeping.
Guest of honour, advisor of New and Renewable Energy and NSDMA, Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, described the centre as a proud achievement for the entire district. He said such initiatives will improve agricultural productivity and rural incomes.
DC Phek Rhosietho Nguori stressed the economic and ecological value of the new centre and encouraged community participation for sustainable growth.
NBHM deputy team leader and Phek district in-charge, Er. Khuvoyi Vese, explained the centre’s role in producing quality bee colonies and promoting scientific beekeeping methods. He noted continued government support for eco-friendly practices.
Representing the village Beekeeping Committee, Shevotsieyi expressed gratitude to NBHM for its support in uplifting local beekeepers.
