Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has launched a week-long Taxi Verification Drive from June 24, with the aim of regulating public transport and addressing irregularities in taxi operations in Kohima.
The campaign was flagged off at the AYO office where AYO president Kesosul Christopher Ltu informed that 245 taxis were verified on the first day. He expressed satisfaction with the public response and added that the All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) will assist in the drive from June 25.
The initiative seeks to ease traffic congestion, prevent misuse of permits, and ensure that all taxi drivers possess valid licences. AYO stated that the group had been studying the issue for nearly a year in consultation with the district administration and transport department.
The verification is scheduled daily from 9:00 AM as follows: June 24: New Reserve, Lerie/CRPF Camp, AG, BOC, Japfü Hotel, Jail Colony, Agri, Forest Colony, Paramedical.
June 25: Chandmari, PWD, Town Area (NST, TCP Gate, Phoolbari, Hospital Colony, Local Ground, Razhü Point). June 26: High School, Khikha Colony, Secretariat Area, ISBT and June 27–28: Regional/zonal taxis and local taxis without designated parking
