H&FW minister announces mega projects for Zunheboto district

Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) minister P. Paiwang Konyak Wednesday announced mega projects for Zunheboto district and sought cooperation from all stakeholders to turn those projects into reality.
The minister, who is currently on a state-wide tour at Zunheboto as part of “Viksit Nagaland for Viksit Bharat”, made announcement during a meeting with the tribal leaders and civil society organisations.
The mega projects include ongoing construction of District Hospital Zunheboto, construction of flat type staff quarter, construction of Urban Public Health Centre, construction of Integrated Public Health Laboratory, construction of CMO building, establishment of nursing school, 30-bedded Ayush hospital, new PHC building at Pughoboto, construction of Satoi PHC, construction of Sukomi Sub Centre, Hebolimi Sub Centre, Hoshepu MO quarter, Satakha MO quarter and Xukhepu staff quarter.
Taking note of slow progress at the ongoing new District Hospital construction, the minister reminded that the department did not encourage extension of completion period as it leads to cost escalation.
In this regard, he sought the intervention of the local MLA, the tribal CSOs and all political party workers to ensure that the project got completed within the stipulated period i.e. December 2025, he further affirmed that the project would come to an end by December 2025 and no further extension would be made.
The minister also informed that the tour was carried out after a series of consultations with all the higher ups both in the state and central including the state governor and political party.
Highlighting the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat, Paiwang Konyak said by 2047 India should be developed and Nagaland cannot afford to lack in health care. Konyak said he looked forward to seeing better health facilities in Zunheboto district.
With regard to shortage of manpower, the minister exuded confidence that the issue would be settled once the NPSC completes the recruitment.
He also said that the current MBBS students would be joining the department on completion of their studies as per the surety bond made.
Besides, the minister also emphasised on judicious use of funds, registration on CMHIS, Ayushman Bharat, maintenance of OPD timing, closure of pharmacies without valid licence and genuine pharmacies, participation on TB elimination campaign etc.
Even if the department provides full facilities, he said the hospital would breakdown if the citizens were not using the district hospital facilities.
Advisor food & civil supplies and LMCP, KT Sukhalu, appreciated the minister for taking the whole team and inspecting the grassroots level.
He expressed hope that Zunheboto would see a sea of change under the minister’s leadership.
Sukhalu also acknowledged the minister for announcing the mega projects and assured to extend full cooperation. He also urged the district administration, the MS and CMO to jointly create awareness about CMHIS and Ayushman Health card to get free access to health services.
Further, the advisor informed that to secure the equipment he would contribute funds from his LADF.
He also urged the doctors and nurses of district hospital to be sincere and show their commitment and sincerity in their duties.
Sumi Hoho and GBs highlighted the requirements of the hospital and thanked the minister for taking keen interest to develop the Zunheboto district health centres.
Secretary H&FW Tainiu and principal director H&FW Dr. Merenla thanked the civil societies, the local MLAs for the warm reception and sought cooperation to the department for the improvement of the district hospital in Zunheboto.
