In a major anti-narcotics operation, Shillong police seized 162.52 grams of heroin and arrested three individuals linked to a drug network operating under the cover of a hardware business.
Acting on a tip-off, police first apprehended Rohit Mattu near NEHA Transport on June 24 with 10.26 grams of heroin. Interrogation led to the arrest of his employer, Ansh Sher Gill alias Suraj Gill, identified as the main supplier. Gill confessed to using his hardware shop as a front for heroin distribution.
Further investigation led to the arrest of courier Raman Raina and the discovery of 152.26 grams of heroin at a rented house in Raid Laban. A fourth suspect, Rohit Honda, remains absconding.
Police have launched a manhunt and said more arrests may follow as the probe continues
