The newly constructed Humtso Yanthan Community Hall at Humtso village, Wokha district, was inaugurated on June 28.
The monolith was unveiled by Dr. L. Wobemo Lotha, Medical Officer, District Hospital Wokha, after a dedicatory prayer by Humtso Baptist Church pastor Bikhamo Yanthan. The stone was dedicated by Chanbemo Yanthan and family. Speaking at the event, Dr. Wobemo praised the collective effort behind the project and encouraged villagers to continue working together for the betterment of the community. He emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in all endeavors.
R. Chenio Yanthan, NPWD Class-1 Registered Contractor and Proprietor of Hills Rubber Enterprise, shared insights into the project’s origins and challenges. He expressed gratitude to all contributors and stressed the need to use the hall meaningfully, fostering mutual respect and understanding among the village’s churches.
Speaking on the importance of the newly inaugurated hall, Chenio noted that while such spaces may have been used for rites and rituals in the past, today—as a Christian community—it is essential to utilize the facility meaningfully.
He stressed the need for mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation, especially among the two churches in the village.
“As we have come together to build and inaugurate this hall, let us continue to work together in the same spirit,” he urged. “Let this place stand as a symbol of our unity, goodness, and shared vision for the future.”
Chenio encouraged villagers to support and learn from one another, reminding them that the village, with over 130 households, must continue to foster a sense of oneness.
A message from former Deputy Speaker of NLA, Ralanthung Yanthan, was also read out. The programme was chaired by Humtso Yanthan Yan Ekhung (HYYE) assistant secretary Chumben B. Yanthan, with an invocation prayer by Michael Yanthan, Pastor of Baghty Baptist Church. HYYE chairman Etsorhomo Yanthan delivered the welcome address, highlighting the need for the hall. A minute of silence was observed in remembrance of departed souls.
Greetings were shared by Nnio Yanthan from Dimapur. Kohima Lotha Baptist Church pastor A. Libonthung Yanthan led the blessing prayer, and HYYE finance secretary Yanbemo Yanthan presented the financial report.
