More organisations condemn child abuse at Pfutsero

DIMAPUR, JUN 30 (NPN)

Condemnations continue to pour in from more organisations over the recent abuse of an 11-year-old minor girl allegedly by a foster mother/guardian at Rukizu Colony, Pfutsero town.
CCPO: Centre Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) has expressed strong and unequivocal condemnation of the child abuse case involving a foster guardian who had allegedly tortured the girl child with machete and other sharp materials.
CCPO president Shepo Dzudo and general secretary Kulupoyi V Vadeo in a press release said this was a deliberate attempt to take life, which was a grave violation of fundamental human rights, and must be met with the strongest possible legal action and moral condemnation.
They maintained that the act of violence, particularly the inhuman behaviour of the adoptive mother, undermined the safety and trust within the family itself.
Declaring that the CCPO stood in solidarity with the victim and family members, they also extended deepest sympathies to them, calling upon the law enforcing agency to take swift action to ensure that the criminal was apprehended in time and justice delivered without delay under the full extent of the law.
CMA: Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) has expressed profound shame and strong condemnation over the assault on the 11-year-old child by her foster mother.
CMA president Zhonelu Tunyi and general secretary Kezevinuo Krome in a letter accused the lady of habitually abusing and torturing the child physically and mentally, besides warning her of further consequences if she ever shared with others about the abuse, which was kept in the dark for long.
CMA said that the incident came to light on June 28 evening when she was taken to a pharmacy for some other illness. To everyone’s surprise and shock, bruises and injuries were noticed on her body, which was a clear indication of severe physical assault, it said.
Noting that the evil act of the foster mother had totally destroyed the free spirited and healthy growth of the child, and put all mothers to shame and heartbroken, CMA said that mothers cared and loved even when everyone ceased to care and love. They said the evil act was unthinkable and shocking.
They demanded that the culprit be booked at the earliest by the enforcement agencies, and severest punishment under the law be accorded to ensure that such act of depravity faced full force of the law, without leniency or delay.
CMA said it would continue to keep track of the progress of the case and would not shy away from violence against children until justice was met.
CAMA: Chokri Area Mothers’ Association (CAMA) has strongly condemned the horrific violence and inhuman behaviour perpetrated against a minor child by its foster guardian.
Describing such an abuse as an outright violation of a child’s fundamental right to dignity and life, CAMA president Nuvotalu Kezo in a statement declared that at an age where a child needed most care, love and protection from guardians and parents, the brutal abuse on the minor was unacceptable.
Expressing outrage at the atrocious conduct of the accused, CAMA appealed the authorities to take swift and appropriate action against the lady and ensure that justice was served to prevent such heinous acts from recurring.

CSU: Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) has strongly condemned the recent incident of child abuse involving an 11-year-old girl who was allegedly assaulted by her foster mother at Rukizu Colony, Pfutsero Town.
Terming the act as “inhuman and reprehensible,” CSU expressed deep anguish, stating that the incident was a gross violation of the child’s fundamental rights and human dignity, and an affront to the moral values of society.
“There can be no justification or tolerance for such cruelty,” the union said in a condemnation note issued by CSU president Pfhulo Sara and general secretary Kuzoto Swuro.
CSU urged the concerned authorities to act with utmost urgency by registering the case, conduct a fair and thorough investigation, and ensure that the perpetrator is brought to justice as per the law. It warned that any delay or dilution in justice would set a dangerous precedent and further endanger the lives of vulnerable children.
Calling the incident a painful reminder of the need to strengthen collective responsibility in safeguarding the voiceless, CSU asserted that the rights and safety of every child must remain a top priority for all.
CSU further affirmed its commitment to pursuing justice and warned that it would not hesitate to take appropriate actions if justice is denied or delayed. “Justice must prevail—firmly, fairly, and without compromise,” it added.
