PSC expresses concern over non-functioning of institutes

DIMAPUR, JUN 30 (NPN)

Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) has expressed serious concern over the prolonged non-functioning of major educational institutions in Longleng district including polytechnic institute, industrial training institute (ITI) and district institute of education and training (DIET).
PSC through its media cell informed it has learnt during recent inspection that construction of the three institutions were completed several years ago, but remained locked and abandoned.
Phom Students’ Conference revealed that the buildings were in a state of neglect, overgrown with climbers and weed causing significant damage to walls, corridors, and roofs.
PSC also disclosed that there have been no appointment of staff, provision for equipment and no preparation to commence academic activities. PSC maintained that this continued apathy has deprived students of essential technical and vocational education, forcing many to migrate elsewhere or abandon their studies altogether.
Strongly condemning what it described as “persistent neglect”, PSC demanded immediate clearing of climbers and weeds and comprehensive repair of all infrastructures.
PSC also demanded clear and time-bound plan to operationalize all three institutions.
It also demanded appointment of qualified staff for all faculties; providing equipment, learning materials, and operational funding and establish a monitoring mechanism to ensure accountability.
PSC cautioned that if its demands remained unaddressed “within a reasonable time frame”, it would be compelled to initiate agitation.
PSC therefore, urged the responsible authorities to act decisively and without further delay.
