The State-level Pre-Subroto Tournament 2025 for U-15 Boys and U-17 Girls kicked off on Monday at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, with K. Neibou Sekhose, President of the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and Executive Member of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), gracing the inaugural programme as the special guest.
In his welcome address, Additional Director of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS), Megolhu Dolie, extended his appreciation to Sekhose for attending the event. Dolie noted that Sekhose’s commitment to the development of sports in the state continued to be a source of encouragement and inspiration for many.
Delivering his speech at the inaugural function, Sekhose expressed happiness to be part of the tournament and commended the YRS department for initiating the event from the district level. He acknowledged the department’s collaboration with the NFA, stating that it was a meaningful step towards promoting football at the grassroots.
Sekhose encouraged young players to believe in themselves and their abilities, stating that “every great player starts somewhere.” He advised the participants to work hard, enjoy the game, learn from their mistakes, and play with passion. He also urged players to support their teammates, communicate effectively on the field, and not be afraid to try new things or take risks. He further encouraged them to celebrate their successes and treat setbacks as learning opportunities.
The State-level Pre-Subroto Tournament is a platform to identify and promote young football talent across Nagaland.
