Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, inaugurated the newly constructed Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) office complex and the Higher Secondary Block of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Tening on July 3. The inauguration programme was held at the Town Hall, Tening, in Peren district.
Addressing the gathering, Khamo expressed optimism about the region’s vast developmental potential, highlighting Tening’s natural beauty, fertile land and abundant resources. He encouraged the community to embrace development with hard work, honesty and a positive mindset, grounded in faith and trust in God.
He pointed out that the government job sector has reached saturation and urged the youth to explore alternative opportunities through competitive examinations such as NPSC and NSSB. Stressing the importance of skill development and entrepreneurship, Khamo aligned his message with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, stating that such initiatives are essential to combat unemployment and promote a self-reliant India.
Speaking on the leadership of chief minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, Khamo commended the government’s peace-oriented governance and emphasis on education, skill development, healthcare, and professional growth.
Highlighting the government’s seriousness in improving education, Khamo noted that qualified teachers are being employed in government-run schools, and called upon the public to support both the institutions and the educators.
He also stated the state government is working towards a ‘state of excellence,’ which requires collective efforts, support, and active participation.
Guest of honour, Namri Nchang, MLA, described the inauguration as a landmark occasion for the people of Tening sub-division. He encouraged increased student enrolment at GHSS Tening and emphasized the role of community ownership of public assets. Nchang also stressed the importance of sustainable living and environmental responsibility, urging leaders to raise public awareness on these issues.
Deputy Commissioner Peren, Hiazu Meru, also addressed the event, appreciating the CAWD for completing the much-needed infrastructure in a timely manner. He urged citizens to take responsibility for public properties and called on government officers to work diligently for the upliftment of the district through focused efforts in education, health and economic development.
A technical report on the project was presented by assistant chief engineer, CAWD, Sungtiba Amer. Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by ADC Tening, K. Furhesie Nyuwi.
