In an effort to ease traffic congestion and improve public safety, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Wokha has issued a new set of traffic and parking regulations along the National Highway through Wokha town. The order will come into effect from July 7, 2025.
As per the directive, single-side parking will be allowed only along three specific highway stretches—between Police Point and DC Office Junction, from Police Point to Etsutchukha Junction, and from Police Point to Hornbill Hotel. The remaining sections of the highway within town limits have been declared strict no-parking zones.
Loading and unloading of goods along the highway will be allowed only between 4 p.m. and 7 a.m., while halting of commercial vehicles during daytime hours will not be permitted in restricted areas.
The district administration has also ordered the immediate removal of all types of encroachments—temporary or permanent—from the roadside, including unauthorized stalls, garages, and materials obstructing the pavements and drainages.
No “Reserved Parking” claims will be allowed in these areas. The police, along with the district transport office and the town council, have been tasked to strictly enforce these rules.
Any violation will attract penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the Nagaland Road Safety Rules. The administration has called upon citizens to extend cooperation for smooth traffic movement and better road safety.
