Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) welcomed its new batch of students with a Freshers’ Day celebration on Saturday, which also featured the presentation of the prestigious INKSPIRE award.
Principal Dr. Paul Punii welcomed the freshers and urged them to uphold perseverance, honesty and sincerity in their academic journey. He reminded students that trust and respect from teachers must be earned through integrity and hard work.
Highlighting the event, Managing Director of NPSC mentors, Nikika, awarded Rs. 20,000 to Francis Jangkhohao Haokip, winner of the All Nagaland Inter-college INKSPIRE Essay Competition 2025. Francis won for his essay on “25 years of Hornbill Festival: Critically examine its success and failures.” Nikika encouraged students to develop the attitude and character of their future professions from the beginning.
The event also saw various competitions, with Paslein Patrick and Aloysia crowned Mr. and Ms. Fresher 2025, respectively. The day concluded with a friendly volleyball match between the freshers and seniors.
