Four IEDs were among a cache of arms and ammunition recovered by security forces in their ongoing search operations in Manipur’s Chandel district.
The recovery was made during operations at different locations in Chandel district on July 4, Manipur police said, in a statement on Sunday.
Apart from the four IEDs, other items recovered during the operations were ten 12 bore rifles, two muzzle-loaded rifles, five pompi, five pompi shells, and four grenades.
The police said that the security forces continued to conduct search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas across districts.
During these operations in the valley districts, two militants including a woman cadre belonging to a proscribed outfit were nabbed from Thoubal and Imphal West districts.
The nabbed woman cadre belonged to proscribed PREPAK (PRO). She was identified as Maibam Sania Devi (19).
She was nabbed from Salungpham area in Thoubal district on Saturday, the said.
One active cadre of the same banned PREPAK (PRO) was arrested from Nagamapal area in Imphal West district. He has been identified as Laishram Romesh Meitei (39), the police added.
Intelligence based operations along with cordon and search operations are being widely carried out to apprehend those involved in extortion and criminal activities in the state, the police said.
