Rising People’s Party (RPP) has demanded the UDA government to present appropriate budgetary allocations for critical sectors during the ongoing session of the NLA.
In a press note, RPP said that they party had made certain observations during the ongoing walkathon around the state.
Observing that there was no governance in the state, especially in eastern Nagaland area, RPP said the state government’s machinery was basically confined to Dimapur and Kohima areas only.
RPP has listed out that the government make budgetary allocations for the following sectors during the ongoing assembly session.
As the national highway connecting Shamator and Tuensang districts remained cut off since 2018 due to landslide creating undue hardship for commuters and transporters, RPP said that the landslide area covering approximately 500m should be either repaired or an alternative bridge over Yaye River be constructed immediately.
RPP has asked the government to make the Hurongki mini-hydel project constructed in 1986 over Yaye River under Shamator district, functional. Due to non-commissioning, for reasons best known to the government, the machines and turbines have been wasted over the years, RPP stated.
To setup a college at Aboi sub-division under Mon district. RPP said ABoi was probably the fastest growing town in Nagalandm which has around 11 schools including one higher secondary school.
RPP said there was virtually no connectivity between Tamlu sub-division and Longleng town, which was approximately 65 km and needed to be rectified immediately.
It also asked for construction of black-topped road along the ancient Humlam road (Salt road) covering Wakching – Chingdang – Chinglong – Aboi, adding that it was important that the UDA government recognise the historical importance of this route.
Apart from the above, the RPP also demands full implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in both Wakching Town and Wakching Village, asserting that both town and village were bereft of water and situation remained unchanged for several years.
RPP also said it was unacceptable that while villages in and around Dimapur were benefitting from the JJM project, Wakching/Tamlu/eastern Nagaland was suffering.
Lastly, RPP said the other observation was that Aboi and Tobu deserved to be upgraded to districts. If for administrative convenience Chümoukedima district can be created, there was no reason for Aboi and Tobu people to suffer, RPP stated.
