To commemorate, World Oral Health Day, the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare created awareness on maintaining proper oral health and its harmful effects among the students.
In Kohima, the programme was organised at SPMU hall, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Nagaland by the State National Oral Health Programme Nagaland division under the theme “Be Proud of Your Mouth”.
Mission Director (NHM), Dr. Thorhusie Katiry, who was the special guest exhorted the gathering on the importance of maintaining good oral health. He asked everyone to take good care of the oral cavity, the toughest structure of the body by following a healthy diet. The theme was highlighted by Jt. Director & SPO (NOHP), Dr. Meribeni Odyuo where she also highlighted the key messages for the campaign.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr.TheyiephrezoKhimiao, director (Dental). Earlier, the programme chaired by Kevisenuo Kire (NOHP Asst) began with an invocation by Thinuohelie Sachu (Research Officer).
In Tuensang, the day was observed at Government Middle School (GMS) Ngangpong village under Tuensang Sadar block on March 21.
Dr. Aoyanger Imchen, Junior Dental Specialist District Hospital Tuensang said that the oral health day was observed to create awareness regarding the importance of maintaining proper Oral health and its harmful effects etc.
On the occasion, dental health camp was conducted for the students of GMS Ngangpong, where 54 students were examined. Toothbrush and toothpaste were also distributed to all the students.
In Dimapur, Department of Health & Family Welfare Dimapur in collaboration with Youth Ministry, Thahekhu Village Baptist Church observed the day on March 20 at Thahekhu Baptist Church, Dimapur. District Oral Health Officer under National Oral Health Programme, Dr. Reyosalu Lase Vizo spoke on the theme and encouraged the youths to take care of their oral health. Free distribution of toothpastes, toothbrushes, calcium tablets, and pamphlets on oral health was carried out after the programme. A total of 170 youths attended the programme.
