Organisations, college celebrate advent Christmas

Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union (NCSU) celebrated advent Christmas by felicitating three traffic personnel for their service in the state capital.

In a press release, NCSU informed that while delivering the Christmas message from John 3:16, Kohima Ao Baptist Church pastor, Temjen Sempo said a selfish society would never progress.

Pointing out that people were living in a materialistic society, the pastor encouraged all to overcome self-centered thoughts this Christmas.

The message of Christmas is about giving and we should have the heart to give out without hesitance, he said.

Secretary PWD (works & housing) Kevin Zehol exhorted the gathering to take up projects from PMGSY roads which he said would help connect the areas and human habitats where there was no road connectivity.

NCSU general secretary John Kath and senior SP Kohima Kevithutho Sophie extended Christmas greetings on the occasion. 

Senior SP Sophie also thanked NCSU for instituting the award to the traffic personnel and encouraged the traffic personnel to give more efforts in the days to come.

Further, Sophie expressed hope that the contribution of the contractors towards the society would always be cherished.

The programme was led by NCSU secretary N Neilo Koza and commenced with Catechist of Christ King Church, Kohima Village Rokuovituo Rutsa.

NCSU secretary Hoshito Assumi delivered the welcome address while NCSU vice president Tseibou Khusoh proposed the vote of thanks and a special melody was presented by Khriesakuonuo Rutsa. 

Earlier, traffic constables Lance Naik Temjensangla and Lance Naik Kevimenuo Sopfü from North Traffic Control and Tsito Yhoshu from South Traffic Control were felicitated with cash awards and citation which were handed over by NCSU president Pele Khezhie.

Phek DPDB: Phek District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting-cum-pre-Christmas celebration was held on December 14 at Kiwi Farm House, Laka Thuvopisu, Phek.

According to a DIPR report, the meeting was chaired by minister for planning & co-ordination, land revenue and parliamentary affairs, and chairman Phek DPDB, Neiba Kronu.

Addressing the meeting, Kronu urged the gathering to retrospect and to progress for the betterment of the society. He asked the members to do away with the negativity.

Other speakers included Kezhienyi Khalo and Yitachu, MLAs, and PGC principal, Dr. Vizovol Mekro.

Special songs were presented by Tekheweu-u Lasuh and Cheweku Rhakho and friends.

MCTE: Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE), Yimyu under Mokokchung district celebrated pre-Christmas on Wednesday on the theme “peace on earth” at MCTE campus.

A press release from MCTE informed that during the the formal session, guest speaker, Kumlong Baptist Church, associate pastor women, Rachel Jamir called on the congregation to make peace with oneself first this Christmas and seek redemption and peace in the arms of Christ.

The award for the “most promising student-teacher of the batch 2019-21” was received to Medemtsuba LWalling. Meanwhile, MCTE principal (in-charge), Dr. Bendangyapangla said that Christmas was a reminder of God’s immeasurable love and that one should be more like Christ every day.

The informal session saw a variety of performances where student-teachers presented dances, carols, shadow act, drama and spoken word poetry.
