EDTC demands clearance of encroached drain

DIMAPUR, JUL 7 (NPN)

Taking note of the recent flood, the East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has expressed serious concern over the Sugar Mill nalla encroachment, which it said affected Airport Area, Padumpukhuri area, Parana Bazar B area, and Purana Bazar area.
EDTC through a press release, stated that “unchecked drainage” had led to frequent inundation in the localities which not only posed risks to public safety, but also damaging property and disrupting the lives of residents.
EDTC pointed out that encroachment of Sugar Mill nalla between Purana Bazar B and Purana Bazar blocked the natural flow of drainage water, leading to frequent flooding of roads, residential areas, and agricultural fields.
“This not only disrupts daily life but also poses a risk to public health and damages property,” EDTC stated.
EDTC has therefore, urged upon the authorities to intervene at the earliest and take appropriate action. EDTC also appealed for necessary action with regard to encroachments and restore the proper functioning of the drainage system.
