CorrespondentKOHIMA, JUL 9 (NPN)

State government employees under the aegis of Confederation of All Nagaland State Service Association (CANSSEA) joined the one-day nationwide strike called by the All India State Government Employees Federation (AISGEF) Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference, CANSSEA general secretary Yhungsenlo Kent said they have placed five-point charter of demands before the state government though at the national level there were 11-point charter of demands.
The five demands include restoration of old pension scheme (OPS), constitution of the state pay commissions, implementation of a comprehensive health insurance scheme, improvement of all the empanelled district hospitals under CMHIS and implementation in toto the eligibility criteria for induction/selection to the IAS cadre of Nagaland.
Nagaland national pension system government employees forum (NNPSGEF) president Avizo Neinu highlighted that the government employees serving under the government of Nagaland after January 1 2010 were covered under the National Pension Scheme (NPS) while employees prior to that were covered under OPS.
He informed that NPS system has not fixed any percentage or assured pension to any of their employees and request the government to scrap NPS and restore OPS.
Neinu therefore appealed to the state government to scrap NPS and restore OPS. CANSSEA advisor Dr. Ilang said CANSSEA along with sister associations were fighting for rollback of NPS and requested the government to take a call for the future of the employees of Nagaland.
On service delivery system of the Chief Minister’s health insurance scheme (CMHIS), he said CMHIS was a very good scheme but expressed dismay that most of the hospitals were declining CMHIS card. He therefore appealed to the government to ensure service delivery even to the remotest part of the state. Core committee member B Imtiwabang Jamir highlighted the issue of the induction of the IAS. He appealed to the government to restore the vacancy circular as it was issued on March 10, 2025. The members affirmed to keep fighting till their demands were met.
