A comprehensive disaster response training programme was inaugurated at the NCC Training Camp in Wokha under the Yuva Aapda Mitra (YAM) Scheme. Organized by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), the initiative aims to equip National Cadet Corps (NCC) volunteers with vital life-saving skills and emergency response techniques.
A total of 700 cadets from eight districts across Nagaland will participate in the training, which is being conducted in two batches from July 15 to 24 and July 26 to August 4. Instructors from the Home Guard & Civil Defence and SDRF Wokha are facilitating the sessions, supported by three Yuva ToT resource persons under NSDMA.
The cadets will receive hands-on training in a wide range of disaster management competencies including musculoskeletal injury management, basic life support, fire safety protocols, rope rescue operations, flood response exercises, and swimming techniques with improvised aids. They will also familiarize themselves with the operation of Outboard Motors (OBMs) and practical rowing commands, enhancing their readiness for water-based rescues. A combined service class is also scheduled for participants of both the YAM Scheme and the ongoing Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-68), fostering collaborative learning and emergency preparedness.
