District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meetings were held in Zunheboto, Noklak and Meluri on July 16, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots planning, infrastructure growth, and administrative coordination.
Chaired by respective local leaders and attended by government officials, legislators, and advisors, the meetings in Zunheboto, Noklak and Meluri reviewed previous resolutions and approved key proposals for Local Area Development Programmes (LADP) for the year 2025–2026.
Zunheboto DPDB charts vision for development and tackles social issues
The monthly DPDB meeting of Zunheboto was held at the DC’s Conference Hall, chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Dharam Raj. The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker of NLA and DPDB chairman S. Toiho Yeptho, Advisor K.T. Sukhalu, and Dr. Sukhato A. Sema, MLA.
According to a DIPR report, DC Raj presented a strategic roadmap aimed at achieving “Viksit Zunheboto by 2047,” outlining various central and state government initiatives underway in the district. He called upon members for sincere and dedicated efforts toward the vision.
Chairman Yeptho lauded the DC’s initiative and recommended expanding Zunheboto Government College’s academic offerings, including integrated B. Ed and B.Sc. courses via private collaborations. He also voiced concern over rising drug and alcohol issues, urging activation of the District Liquor and Narcotics Committee for stricter enforcement.
District Program Manager (NHM), Rosemary Vitoli, shared the latest health profile of the district. The meeting concluded with approvals of LADP 2025–2026 schemes and presentations of Iconic projects by various departments.
DPDB Noklak reviews infrastructure projects and approves LADP schemes
The monthly meeting of the Noklak DPDB was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of DPDB chairman, P. Longon, MLA.
The meeting reviewed minutes from the previous session and discussed several developmental agendas. Key proposals included the construction of a school gate at Straightway Mission School, ITC Dan, and the establishment of sub-centres in Tukhinkiu, Jejeiking, and Noklak villages. The house also deliberated on the construction of a connecting road from Pang to Tukhinkiu village.
In a significant decision, the LADP schemes for 56 A/C Noklak and 57 A/C Thonoknyu for the financial year 2025–2026 were given the nod. Chairman Longon further instructed all department heads in Noklak to ensure their regular presence during future DPDB meetings to enhance coordination and accountability.
Meluri DPDB pushes for infrastructure upgrades across sectors
The Meluri DPDB held its monthly meeting at the DB’s Court, Meluri, chaired by Advisor for New & Renewable Energy and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe.
The board reviewed prior decisions before recommending several key upgrades. Proposed initiatives included setting up an Employment and Skill Development Office, upgrading Phokhungri EAC HQ, CHC Meluri to District Hospital status, and converting the Sub-Divisional Education Office to a District Education Office.
Additional agenda items included upgrading the BDO Meluri to DRDA Meluri, elevating Junior Engineer (Electrical) to Executive Engineer (Electrical), boosting AIR transmission from 100 MHz to 1000 MHz at Meluri HQ, and promoting the Veterinary Assistant Surgeon to Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO).
LADP 2025–2026 was finalized and approved, and departmental presentations were given by Dr. Shipathu Thupitor and Dr. Nüsa Lohe highlighting veterinary services and animal husbandry activities.
Districts gear up for development through monthly DPDB deliberations
DIMAPUR
