St. Joseph’s College Jakhama launches MOOCs Platform

St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, marked a major milestone with the launch of its Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on July 17. The programme was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Research and Development Cell (RDC) in collaboration with the Department of History.
Held at the college conference hall, the event was chaired by Zuchanbeni Lapon, Head of the Department of History, and began with an invocation by Vice Principal (Students’ Affairs), Rev. Fr. Y. Philip.
Computer Instructor Khiongri A. gave an overview of the SJC(A) MOOCs platform and demonstrated the registration and learning process.
Special guest V. Lovitoly Sema, Additional Secretary, Higher & Technical Education and Ex-Officio Director, Higher Education, encouraged students to be responsible citizens and strive for excellence. She urged them to choose the “harder right over the easier wrong” and praised the college for launching a platform that enables flexible learning.
She also reminded faculty members of their role in shaping young minds and encouraged continued innovation in teaching.
The initiative aligns with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and NEP-2020 goals of promoting blended learning and student-centric education.
The college’s MOOCs software allows students to access courses anytime, anywhere, and on any device, supporting UGC’s goals of access, equity, and quality in education.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Thejasenuo Julia Kirha, Head of the Department of Botany.
