Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, on Friday inaugurated the General Administration Guest House at Longleng and highlighted various government initiatives aimed at creating employment for the youth.
According to DIPR repot, speaking at the event, Khamo said the state government, under the leadership of the chief minister, was committed to youth welfare and development.
He mentioned scemes like microfinance and bank loans for start-ups, and introduced the newly launched “Skills and Entrepreneurship Development Mission” to promote business and entrepreneurship among unemployed youth. Congratulating the engineers and administration for completing the much-needed project, Khamo also spoke on the challenges faced by the government due to land issues.
He recalled that earlier, villagers willingly provided land for development, which led to the growth of towns, schools, offices, and roads. However, he said the current lack of land availability was slowing down development efforts.
Chairman DPDB Longleng, A. Pongshi Phom, MLA thanked the landowner for generously donating land for the Guest House.
He urged the public to take collective responsibility in maintaining the facility, calling it a public property meant for long-term community benefit.
President of Phom People Council, Y.B. Angam Phom, requested concerned departments to provide basic amenities for proper upkeep of the Guest House.
Deputy Commissioner Longleng, W. Manpai Phom, delivered the welcome address, while a technical report was presented by Assistant Chief Engineer (CAWD), Er. Sungtiba Amer. A special presentation was performed by M. Phammei Phom.
The programme began with an invocation by Rev. H. Beau Phom, Pastor of Longleng Town Baptist Church, and was chaired by EAC Hq. Longleng, Tsalimse Sangtam. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by SDO (C) Longleng, Meyazungba Jamir.
