The Nagaland Volleyball Association (NVA) conducted its official handing and taking over ceremony on Friday at the NSAPLMP Conference Hall, Agri Expo, 4th Mile Dimapur, marking the transition of leadership for the 2025–2028 tenure.
Outgoing president N. Jacob Yanthan, in his farewell address, urged the newly elected team to lead with courage, responsibility and unity. Emphasizing the importance of teamwork and divine guidance, Yanthan stated, “Any association is not by mere individual efforts but of team work with God’s guidance.” He formally handed over all office files and documents to the new president, Visasilie Suhu.
Outgoing technical secretary P. Yanbemo Humtsoe shared updates from the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI), announcing that Virender Kanwar of Himachal Pradesh was elected as the new VFI president, narrowly defeating Prem Singh Bajor by two votes.
General secretary Tiameren Aier reflected on his tenure, highlighting key milestones and achievements during his service with the association. The ceremony began with an invocation by Youth Director of Lotha Baptist Church Diphupar B, Jenio Ngulie.
The new team for the 2025–2028 will be led by Visasilie Suhu as president; Kyupise Sangtam as general secretary; Elia, H. Mangyang Phom, Tsiebou Khusoh as vice presidents with three joint secretaries, treasurer and secretary press & media.
The election of office bearers was held during the NVA annual general meeting on April 11 at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur. The proceedings were conducted in the presence of observers from the Nagaland Olympic Association, Kohima, and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland. The election process adhered to prescribed guidelines and was duly monitored by appointed officials, according to NVA sources.
