The Vianney League 2025 Football Tournament commenced on Friday at Good Shepherd Seminary (GSS), Thahekhu, Dimapur, with a ceremonious opening led by counsellor of St. Joseph College (Autonomous) Jakhama, Rev. Fr. C. Joseph. The event was attended by several dignitaries and members of the seminary community.
In his inaugural address, the Seminary Rector extended best wishes to all participating teams, encouraging the players to rediscover their passion for the sport and stay committed to their personal and athletic aspirations. The ceremony emphasized motivation, sportsmanship, and spiritual reflection.
Organized to coincide with the feast day of St. Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney, a revered French Catholic priest known for transforming the parish community of Ars, France—the tournament will culminate in the final match scheduled for August 4 at 8:30 AM at the GSS football ground.
