Sao Chang College observes ‘Nature Conservation Day’

DIMAPUR

Department of Botany, Sao Chang College, observed “World Nature Conservation Day 2025” under the theme “Planting Tree With a Purpose.”
The programme was chaired by Tekameren, HoD, Department of Botany, who shared on the objective of the day and its importance in protecting natural resources.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Lanurenla, principal of the college, stressed on changing mindsets to promote sustainable use of the environment and urged participants to spread awareness about pollution and resource depletion at home and in the community.
Vote of thanks was pronounced by Tongpangkokla Chang, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany.
Following the programme, science faculty and students planted 25 saplings within the campus, including species such as apple, pear, white plum, persimmon and hollock.
Each student was assigned the responsibility to care for their sapling until graduation.
