GST revenue soars in Nagaland; 104 percent rise in June 2025

DIMAPUR

Nagaland Tax Department celebrated a major milestone at the Commissioner of Taxes office, Dimapur, reporting a sharp rise in GST revenue following internal reforms and intensified enforcement.
According to DIPR report, the department recorded year-on-year GST growth of 43% in April, 44% in May, and a remarkable 104% in June 2025. Petroleum revenue also rose by 31% in the first quarter of FY 2025-26.
Officials attributed the gains to structural reforms, skill development efforts, and improved enforcement. Field officers and the Directorate were commended for their contributions to the positive results.
To boost field operations, four new enforcement vehicles including mobile squads were flagged off by Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner, Sentiyanger Imchen on July 26 at Dimapur.
Commissioner of State Taxes, Abhinav Shivam, thanked the state government for its continued support, calling the new vehicles a key asset in executing field operations. He praised tax officers and the business community for improved compliance, while cautioning against challenges such as fake invoicing and ITC fraud.
Shivam noted the surge in collections showed Nagaland’s readiness to adapt to the evolving GST landscape. He added that a stronger tax base not only boosts state spending but also increases Nagaland’s share in national funds.
He urged citizens and taxpayers to make tax compliance a public movement to build a stronger and self-reliant state.
