The state cabinet will hold a meeting Wednesday (July 30, 2025) to deliberate on the Centre’s directive to resolve pending issues related to the demand for creation of Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT), deputy chief minister Y Patton said.
The development follows the third Tripartite High-Level Committee meeting held on July 23 in New Delhi, attended by officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Nagaland government, and representatives of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), which has been demanding separate territory since 2010.
Patton disclosed to media on the sidelines of an event Tuesday that the cabinet will deliberate on the issue Wednesday and will also hold discussions the same day with ENPO leaders.

DIMAPUR, JUL 29 (NPN): Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) held a closed-door meeting at Hotel Saramati here on Tuesday to brief Eastern Nagaland Legislators Union (ENLU) members, tribal bodies, Ex-Parliamentarian Association of Nagaland and the Frontier Organisation on the outcome of the third tripartite high-level committee meeting held in Delhi on July 23.
Speaking to media persons after the four-hour-long meeting, ENPO president Chingmak Chang said some of the contentious issues unresolved in the previous round of talks were addressed and resolved during the July 23 meeting. He said that this was conveyed to the representatives of ENLU, Ex-PAN and Frontier Organisation who attended the meeting. Chang further clarified that Monday’s meeting was only for briefing stakeholders and that no new agenda or resolution was taken up. He added that all information shared was already in the public domain following the New Delhi meeting.
He also informed that the Ministry of Home Affairs has indicated that the next round of talks would be held in August, although a specific date has not been fixed. On pending matters to be resolved by the Nagaland government within a fortnight, Chang said the details could not be disclosed at this point.
