Rajya Sabha Debate on Operation Sindoor Sparks Tensions

A heated exchange erupted in the Rajya Sabha over who should respond to the Operation Sindoor debate. The opposition criticized PM Modi’s absence, insisting he reply personally. However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju defended the government’s stance, stating that the Prime Minister had already addressed the issue in the Lok Sabha and that choosing the speaker is the government’s prerogative.

Despite references to past precedents, the opposition remained dissatisfied, leading to disruptions and multiple adjournments throughout the day. Issues raised included voter list revisions in Bihar, U.S. tariffs, and crimes against women. Proceedings were eventually adjourned till 4:30 p.m. due to continued uproar.
