Affirming solidarity with the Christian minority community, NPP Nagaland said rights and dignity of minority Christians must be protected at all times. NPP unit said it condemned any attempt to harass or criminalize individuals based on their faith. NPP Nagaland called for immediate withdrawal of “fabricated charges” against the nuns.
It also urged the responsible authorities to ensure such incidents were not repeated.
NPYF: National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) Nagaland state unit has strongly condemned “mistreatment and unjust detention” of two Catholic nuns in Chhattisgarh.
In a press release, NPYF, the youth front of National People’s Party (NPP), said that such acts of aggression against individuals devoted to community service tarnished the values that hold the diverse nation together. The youth front reminded that India’s unity depended on mutual respect across all faiths and traditions. It said that targeting religious workers—especially those engaged in selfless work among the underprivileged—was an unacceptable breach of human dignity and constitutional spirit.
NPYF has urged the Chhattisgarh government to conduct an unbiased judicial review and bring all those involved to justice – without prejudice or delay.
It also appealed to the Centre and National Commission for Minorities to act swiftly and ensure that such incidents were not repeated.
