Over 200 government school teachers from across Nagaland participated in a five-day virtual training programme from July 28 to August 1, aimed at deepening engagement with Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). The initiative, organised by the Department of School Education (DoSE) in collaboration with Dream a Dream, built on previous in-person SEL Ambassador trainings held in 2024.
Conducted in four batches, each session lasted three hours and provided space for reflection, creative expression, and peer dialogue. Senior officials from DoSE—Additional Director Deenabandhu Panda, Deputy Director Mary Neilhouvonuo, and Assistant Directors Gloria Ezung and Imtisangla—formally inaugurated the sessions and commended teachers for their continued commitment.
The training focused on fostering inclusive, caring classrooms aligned with NEP 2020’s vision of holistic development. Day 1 featured narrative sharing and small-group discussions to build trust and connection, while Day 2 encouraged introspection through arts-based activities such as poetry, doodling, and mind mapping.
The sessions reinforced SEL principles and the role of educators in nurturing student-centred learning environments, especially for children from adverse backgrounds.
The programme also served to revitalise the SEL Ambassador community and reaffirm their shared purpose in promoting emotional well-being and inclusive education.
