Manipur govt ends physical print of Gazette copies

CorrespondentIMPHAL, AUG 1

Manipur government on Friday launched the official e-gazette portal to promote “digital governance and enhance public access to official information”, ending all physical print and sale of hard copies of gazette.
State Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla officially inaugurated the e-gazette portal (http://egazettemanipur.mn.gov.in) on Friday. “This visionary initiative marks a significant step towards paperless administration and greater public access to official government information” a government statement said after the inauguration.
The purpose of the e-Gazette portal was to publish the Manipur Gazette exclusively in electronic format on the official portal and “physical printing and sale of hard copies of the Gazette stands discontinued from August 1, 2025,” it said.
To ensure that the directorate of printing and stationery maintained official records of all e-published notifications and makes them available as required for reference purposes and to adopt a progressive shift towards paperless governance, enhance accessibility to government notifications, and improve efficiency in the dissemination of official information.
The directorate of printing and stationary shall maintain official records of all e-published notifications and make them available as and when required for reference, it said.
Three weeks ago, on July 11, the Manipur directorate of printing and stationery announced adoption of a paperless system for all official communications, document management, and operations of the directorate wherever possible, with immediate effect.
The decision aligned with the e-Governance initiatives taken up by the state government, the directorate had said in a release. It added that the adoption of a paperless working system will not lead to stoppage of printing of statutory forms, booklets, and other official documents by the directorate.
On the contrary, it is aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the communication process between the indenting government offices and the directorate in undertaking mandated printing and publishing tasks.
The directorate had also appealed to all departments, institutions, or offices of the government that have adopted e-office Manipur to send and receive correspondences to and from the directorate exclusively through the e-office platform, wherever possible.
It said all correspondences including receipts or acknowledgements made to the departments, institutions, offices, of the government or to the general public by the directorate shall be made via e-office Manipur or through official email dir.govtpress-mn@manipur.gov.in , or the official contact number 9402268344 (WhatsApp).
There will be no communication on physical paper from the directorate other than in cases where inked signed paper communications are mandated by extant rules or law.
All documents issued by the directorate will bear the digital signature of the competent authority, wherever such signature is required, unless there is a mandatory requirement for an inked signature, it had added.
