The Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, along with the faculty, hosted 90 fresher students from Government Polytechnic Kohima (GPK) on July 30, as part of their Student Induction Programme. The students were accompanied by three faculty members during the visit to the Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema.
The event provided an opportunity for the students to interact with the Dean and faculty, gaining valuable insights into the various courses offered by the School of Engineering and Technology. The Dean highlighted the five branches of Engineering available for the B. Tech degree, which include: Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Biotechnology, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology.
Additionally, the students were informed about the M.Tech and PhD programs currently offered by the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Technology and Information Technology, while the Department of Biotechnology offers M.Sc. and PhD programs.
The students were also informed about the lateral entry opportunities for those completing their Diploma, allowing them to join the B.Tech course and further pursue degrees such as M.Sc., M.Tech, and PhD.
Following the session, the students visited the laboratories in all five departments, where they were introduced to the state-of-the-art facilities, enriching their understanding of the practical applications of their chosen fields.
