The newly constructed T Sentichuba Amphitheatre was virtually inaugurated on Tuesday at Mongsenyimti village by chief minister of Nagaland, Dr. Neiphiu Rio after a dedicatory prayer by pastor L. Yanger of Mongsenyimti Baptist Church. The inauguration programme was hosted by advisor for Water Resources, Tongpang Ozukum.
Addressing the occasion virtually, chief minister Dr. Rio described the amphitheatre as a fitting tribute to late T Sentichuba Ozukum, a respected public figure who served the community for over three decades. He stated that the project fulfilled a long-cherished dream of the villagers and would serve as a vibrant space for cultural and artistic expression. Dr. Rio further stated that the structure stands as a symbol of unity and pride, honouring a visionary whose legacy continues to inspire.
In his speech, Tongpang Ozukum expressed gratitude to the chief minister and acknowledged the contributions of the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, the builders, artisans, and all involved in the project’s completion. He announced the formation of the Mongsenyimti Culture Committee, which will oversee activities at the amphitheatre throughout the year to ensure it remains active beyond the annual Moatsu and Tsungremmung festivals.
Ozukum also appreciated the guidance and vision shared by director of North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dr. Prashanna Gogoi, toward sustaining the amphitheatre as a cultural hub.
Earlier, brief speeches were delivered by DC Mokokchung Ajit Kumar Verma, Dr. Gogoi, and the wife of late T Sentichuba Ozukum. Folk dance performances by Arkum Club and New Yaongyimti village added cultural vibrancy to the event. The welcome address was delivered by Mongsenyimti village council chairman, Aosungit.
