SCAN to celebrate silver jubilee with All Sumi Chess C’ship 2025

The Sumi Chess Association Nagaland (SCAN), established in 2000, is set to commemorate its 25th anniversary with a series of events under the theme “Always a Step Higher.” The Silver Jubilee celebration will commence on August 20, 2025, at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur, with Evangelist of WSBAK, Akuvuto, Rev. Kihoto Rotokha, as the guest speaker for the inaugural programme.
In a press release issued by SCAN informed that to mark the occasion, the Association will host the All Sumi Chess Silver Jubilee Championship 2025 from August 20 to 22. The event will be graced by retired Director of the Rural Development Department, Government of Nagaland, Dr. Inazhe Phuleahe.
The championship invites participation from members of the Sumi community across the globe. Entry fees are set at Rs. 500 for the Open category and Rs. 100 for the U-14 and U-18 categories. Individual prizes will be awarded in various categories including Best Female Player, Best Player Below 10 Years, Best Senior Player (Above 55 Years), among others. A total prize pool of Rs. 2,80,000 has been proposed for the competition.
