Temporary Ungma Police Outpost inaugurated

A temporary Ungma Police Outpost was officially inaugurated in a brief formal ceremony held between Ungma and Alichen along NH-2 on August 6. The plaque and inaugural stone were unveiled by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Mokokchung, Vesupra Kezo, in the presence of Commandant 2nd NAP Alichen, EAC Ongpangkong Sangpang Chang, Additional SP Y. Tumchobemo Yanthan, and village council members from neighbouring areas. The outpost was dedicated by BBC DEF Pastor Temjen.
In his inaugural address, SSP Vesupra Kezo stated that the establishment of the outpost reflects the Home Department’s commitment to ensuring public safety, improving access to justice and fostering closer cooperation with the community. He highlighted that over the past three years, 21 criminal cases have been registered within the jurisdiction, resulting in the arrest of 85 individuals involved in serious offences such as extortion, drug trafficking, smuggling of prohibited liquor, and vehicle-related incidents.
Kezo emphasized that the new outpost will enhance law enforcement effectiveness, particularly during emergencies, and appealed to the community for continued support and cooperation in its smooth functioning.
The SSP also expressed gratitude to the Home Department, Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Sharingain Longkumer, and the surrounding village councils for their contributions in realizing the establishment of the outpost.
Earlier, short speeches were delivered by representatives of the village council, Ongpangkong Mungdang, and EAC Ongpangkong Sangpang Chang, who assured full administrative support for the success of the outpost. The programme was chaired by Additional Superintendent of Police, Y. Tumchobemo Yanthan.
