The 5 Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP) has announced non-participation in all state government functions, including Independence Day on August 15.
Informing this, Convenor Er. Tesinlo Semy and member-secretary G.K. Zhimomi said the move advances CoRRP’s agitation over unresolved issues to which the state has not responded.
They thanked five apex tribal bodies-Angami Public Organization, Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho, Rengma Hoho and Sumi Hoho-for backing the August 9 joint meeting resolutions and issuing circulars instructing their affiliates to boycott state events. CoRRP urged the public, especially youth and students, to join this peaceful protest and warned the government against coercive measures.
The five tribes are demanding a review of the reservation policy that has remained unchanged for around 40 years. CoRRP also wants a transparent, accountable and effective reservation policy that promotes social equity, representation and balanced development across Nagaland’s communities.
