Dr. Neiphiu Rio inaugurates 10Biofertilizer Production Units on I-Day

DIMAPUR

As part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations held at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio virtually inaugurated eight Biofertilizer Production Units across the state, while advisor for Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation, Imkong L. Imchen, inaugurated two additional units.
According to a DIPR report, the newly established units are located at Zubza, Dimapur, Jalukie, Wokha, Zuketsa, Mokokchung, Longleng, Tizit, Tuensang, and Noklak. These facilities have been set up by the Department of Soil & Water Conservation under the Soil Health and Fertility Scheme of PM-RKVY, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
Aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture, the units will produce indigenous, cost-effective, and eco-friendly biofertilizers and biopesticides for distribution to farmers, demonstration farms, and government-supported agricultural initiatives. Each unit has an annual production capacity of 5,000 litres.
The initiative follows a Memorandum of Agreement signed on July 12, 2022, between the Department and Central Agricultural University, Umiam, Meghalaya, for the technology transfer of three products: CAU Bioenhancer, CAU Jhum Bioenhancer, and Um-Met Biopesticide.
Nagaland CM commissions waste collection vehicles to 20 ULBs under SBK
Marking the 79th Independence Day celebrations, chief minister of Nagaland, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, formally commissioned Waste Collection and Transportation Vehicles to 20 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of the state at a ceremony held at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima on August 15.
The initiative is part of the Swachh Bharat Kosh (SBK), established in 2014 to channel philanthropic and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions toward the Clean India Mission. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has facilitated funding through the Kosh for 20 selected ULBs out of the total 39 in Nagaland.
A total of 41 sanitation vehicles equipped with GPS tracking and public address systems have been allocated to enhance waste collection and monitoring efficiency. In addition to the vehicles, all eligible ULBs will receive uniforms, shoes, raincoats, winter jackets, bins, and essential tools for waste handling.
