A memorial service to honour the life, service, leadership and dedication of late La. Ganesan, Governor of Nagaland, was held at Raj Bhavan, Kohima, on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, described the service as a fellowship held in love and remembrance of the late Governor La Ganesan.
Expressing deep grief, he said the demise of the Governor had left a huge vacuum.
Sharingain informed that the chief minister, deputy chief ministers and chief secretary were in Chennai to represent the people of Nagaland at the last rites, while members in Kohima gathered at Raj Bhavan in solidarity.
He also recalled the Naga tradition that the home of the departed is never left empty, and said the fellowship was in keeping with that custom to express support to the bereaved family.
The Speaker thanked the elected members of the Assembly for their presence, terming it a profound gesture of respect to the constitutional head of the State.
Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly joined in paying floral tributes to the late Governor. The programme was chaired by state chaplain, Rev. Izieteilung Tering.
